Happiness

I came across the following conversation which made me smile at the wisdom of the young child…his Mum had told him ‘the key to life is happiness’.

Teacher: What do you want to be when you grow up?

Child: I want to be happy.

Teacher: I don’t think you understand the question.

Child: I don’t think you understand life.

We all want to be happy…..and the only difference between us is what we perceive to be necessary for us to be so. 

Essentially we are born happy….then ‘life happens’ and sometimes thoughts, feelings, beliefs (for example – we must look or be a certain way, have or do a particular thing before we can be happy) or emotional baggage stick and make it difficult for our natural inner happiness to shine through.

As someone who suffered with depression for many years, it seems only appropriate that I have a page on my website all about, what is now my favourite subject, Happiness!  Please read on to find out how I can empower you to be Happy.

On my journey from depression to authentic happiness I experienced several stages;

  1. Totally depressed….unable to enjoy anything at all.
  2. Feeling down/blue but able to experience good feelings fleetingly.
  3. Neutral but very emotionally reactive to external circumstances, good or bad.
  4. Externally happy….able to enjoy fun, joy, laughter, love, good times but still vulnerable  and able to be ’knocked off course’ when circumstances are difficult.
  5. Authetically happy…emotionally content, strong, peaceful with a higher baseline happiness level. In control and connected to my own inner happiness.  Able to change my emotional state, deal with whatever life throws at me and to choose to be happy despite circumstance.

From the combination of my life experience, my time as a therapy client, subsequent training and years of working as a therapist I have considered, what are the keys to inner happiness, and how can everyone use them to unlock and rediscover the natural happiness they were born with.

Who are the Happiness sessions for?

  • If you are unable to enjoy anything and life has got on top of you, this is for you.
  • If you are feeling down, blue, depressed, or fed up, this is for you.
  • If your happiness is controlled or heavily influenced by external circumstances, e.g. holidays, special treats/occasions, money, other people etc, and you find it difficult to be happy with day to day normality, this is for you.
  • If you are okay but would like to increase your baseline happiness level and want some fantastic tools and techniques under your belt to enable you to be even happier, this is for you.
  • If you are ‘externally happy’ and want to connect to your ‘inner happiness’ again, this is for you.

What does this Happiness programme involve?

This is a Bespoke Happiness Programme tailored to suit your specific needs. Initially we will have a free telephone consultation to get to know eachother, so I can answer any questions you may have, and so I can begin to build a picture of your situation.  This will be followed by a pre session consultation form to be returned before your sessions begin.  Then, over the following six weeks, the first four of these being face to face one to one sessions, and next two being free email support and guidance we will cover the following;

  • Explore what Happiness is to you.
  • Look at your current Happiness level…look at what is and isn’t working.
  • Get rid of any emotional baggage which has been affecting your happiness.
  • Change any necessary beliefs and thought processes.
  • Create in your mind a new way of being.
  • Learn excellent psychological techniques to change your emotional state.   
  • Reconnect you to your inner happiness.
  • Understand inner happiness and how sometimes doing nothing is all we need.   
  • Plan goals, challenges, changes you want to make.
  • Create in your mind your compelling future and take the first steps towards making it a reality.

The sessions will include a combination of Meridian therapy techniques, Hypnosis, NLP and coaching as appropriate to each individual client.
